სურამი თონე (Surami Tone)

This shop sells white nazuki at two locations: about 300 meters south of the State University Station and about 150 meters west of Vazha-Pshavela Station. In addition to the standard “nazuki large” (4 lari), they also offer a “nazuki small” for 2.5 lari. The flavor of their nazuki resembles that of Chakrulo‘s nazuki, with a subtle sweetness and a slightly oilier texture. They served me a cooled nazuki with few raisins. Of course, depending on the time of purchase, you might get a warm one, but I was reminded again that Tbilisi’s nazuki shops have a different attitude to keeping nazuki warm compared to the shops in Surami. After lightly sprinkling water on it and reheating it in the microwave at home, it “revived” beautifully, filling my mouth with the soft, elastic chewiness of the freshly made texture. This chewiness reminded me a bit of the nazuki from Sergo’s Nazuki. Though the shop is located away from Tbilisi’s city center, it’s worth a visit when you’re in the area near the State University Station or Vazha-Pshavela Station. They also sell khachapuri and shotis puri. No parking available. Cards accepted. Wolt delivery is available from the Vazha-Pshavela branch.
